About Us

Jarom declined to contribute to this portion of the blog, so he will remain an enigma wrapped in a mystery.

Mika likes doing things that aren’t fun. For example, she is attempting law school with the lofty goal of eventually serving as a state appellate judge.

Evan (12) wants to be “an archaeologist or something.” He’s a fan of Minecraft, butterfly knives, and having our dog Zelda sleep in his room.

June (10) loves reading in bed; throwing tantrums she is much too old to be throwing; being praised for doing extra math homework; and singing to herself. She wants to be a judge when she grows up (aww). June’s favorite thing in the world, as far as we can tell, is mumbling.

Christian was diagnosed with bilateral renal agenesis (translation: both kidneys didn’t form) at 20 weeks gestation. He was born on April 24, 2013 and lived for an hour and a half. You can read about our experience here: Day 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 8 / 9 / 10 / 12 / 15 / 16 / 17 / 18 / 22 / 23 / 24 / 26 / 32 / 33 / 36 / 37 / / Mika’s view / Jarom’s view / ongoing / Month 6Year 1 / Year 1.5 / Year 2 / Year 3

Ramona (5) is a drop of golden sun. She is endlessly content with life. We don’t plan on letting Ramona grow up. Ever.

  1. Hi, I want to tell you both that I think of you many times a week. I miss your family being just 2 doors down. I was very young when my brother died, but I still remember the funeral. I am now 74 and do not believe I will ever forget that day. My mother told me that she could never forget the dates that was important about my beautiful Jimmy. (He was a beautiful baby to me as I held my Daddy’s hand and a tear ran down his check.)
When my first child was due the Doctor said it would be October 2 and my reply was that any day but the 6th as that would hurt my Mom’s feelings. When Barbara came on the 6th I was very nervous until the 36 hours had passed. My mother said after the 36 hours had passed she had ok feelings but then she had a reason to be happy about that particular day. So that fear she carried for 17 years. I was too young for the date to effect me in any way. I love you both very much and when you come back to California (Fairfield) I would very much like to have a quick meal with you and your children to renew my love (friendship) that I have for you in my heart. Remember I met Jarom when he was born…. Love Dorothy Clauson-Raley

Be opinionated! We certainly are.
