Today's real-life gift.
Posted: January 27, 2010 Filed under: Treasure Island 3 CommentsWe had a fabulous evening: our neighbors watched the Bwun while we went out for dinner at Spark. If you live in Happy Valley, you really should consider going. The food was beyond perfect, from my alcohol-free berry martini to the flat iron steak to the ruby grapefruit brulee for dessert. (I know it sounds weird, but even the Romgi was impressed, and he hates grapefruit!) Best of all, I had two free hands to cut my food with, and I didn’t have to keep moving my cup away from the Bwun because he wasn’t there.
I adore the Bwun, you know that, but it was so great to have a little break.
We owe a huge thank you to ‘sposita, who generously helped fund our evening out! Come with us next time!
(By the way, the Bwun was apparently an angel for our neighbors, and was so calm they decided we must have drugged him before dropping him off. Really? He was a terror for me all day. And became a terror again as soon as we went to pick him up. Thanks, Bwun.)
I hate messes.
Posted: January 26, 2010 Filed under: Dangerous Book for Boys 1 CommentIt may surprise you, if you know what a horrible housekeeper I am, to learn that I really hate messes. Imagine what a trial (!) it is for me to have a little boy around. (By the way, I realized today that the Bwun is more and more a little boy and less a baby. Sad! And exciting at the same time!)
Besides the fact that the Bwun destroys every tidy and clean spot I can create in our house, he also likes to feed himself. I try to give him little things he can pick up, and leave the spoon-feeding to me, but today was just one of those days. He was determined to use the spoon not only to put food in his mouth but to scoop food out of the bowl. We tried yogurt.
It was a big, big mess.
This was just the beginning. Really, he'd only had about 2 bites.
Still just barely into the bowl.
That's about when we stopped.
It would have been okay if the Bwun hadn’t finally picked up the little bowl and started waving it around. And dumping it on his pants, which had avoided getting any food on them until that point. Yeah, he had a bath right after I finished taking pictures.
