Memories

1. As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you.
Ha! I’m first, so I will tell you about (I think!) my first memory of you. We were at Girls’ Camp. I was a Stake Leader, and you were hanging out in our campground before some meal (dinner?) and I was braiding hair and talking to you and a couple other girls. We were laughing and having a lot of fun being silly.
At least, I think that was you. =) It was a good impression.
I remember when you came to stay with us that summer, we were old enough that I was driving and we went to Nordstrom Rack in Sugarhouse (SL) and we pulled up and I had Jimmy Eat World in the C.D. player, and I remember saying, “oh, don’t worry, the whole cd isn’t like this song…” because I had thought it was kind of heavy rock, and you responded, “oh, I know, I have this c.d.” and then I felt dumb for about 1 minute, and then I gained an even GREATER respect for you.
Oh, (and just for fun) do you remember that time we learned how to properly pronounce “Llama”?? hee hee hee.
I was thinking just the other day about when you were probably a freshman in HS, and at supper you said that there was this boy in your class and you thought he might be Mormon. And your tactful older brother said something like, “His name’s Jarom and you think he might be Mormon?”
Of course, there are probably lots more . . .
Mom, that one gets brought up a LOT in our household. Someone who lives here likes to say that maybe if his name were Nephi, I would have caught on sooner…
Hmm, I wonder who that could be. Sounds like about the same tact as your older brother! But I think that first and last name combo would kinda run into one long weird word. (Like Amalickiahite?) Better with the consonant at the end.
Multiple memories. Some of the best times were when you came to talk to me about anything or sometimes nothing important. I really liked having those moments alone when I didn’t have to give my attention to anyone else, and I could just listen. You are one of my all-time favorite people. Happy Birthday!
So many to choose from! Sharing a room with you for all those years, I could probably come up with something pretty juicy. But what I’m thinking of was actually when you were home on a break from college, I think. There was one day in late winter when the two of us went driving out on the road up to Berryessa. You were doing some photography, but it started to rain and we had to rush to get back in the car. It was an incredible downpour, with hail and lightning so bad we had to pull over and wait for it to lighten up. I especially remember that you had your favorite Third Eye Blind cd playing, and “God of Wine” was just such a perfect song for how dark and stormy it was. In a weird way it was actually really peaceful. Later we went back to take pictures on a less rainy day.
I remember when you had a dinner party, I think, over at your house, and you made us all these little place cards with our names written really cutely on them. I was really impressed–not only with the cuteness of the name, but the coolness of hosting a dinner party when you’re 17. That about sums you up–really cute, and awe-inspiringly (I know…not a real adverb) cool.
Also, Happy Birthday :)
I know I should have been the very first one to post on here… but I had a really rough time trying to think of something to put on here. Not because we don’t have any memories together, but because I had trouble picking one. One thing I will hopefully always remember was that whenever you were being shady, I would look at you all wonky and say “Watching you Lewis, corner of the eye!”
Um, since when have I ever been shady??
