Third
Posted: January 16, 2013 Filed under: Great Expectations 8 CommentsI had a second ultrasound this morning to confirm that yes, there is a tiny parasitic human being squirming around in there. Not surprisingly, given what my other kids are like, this one flipped over at least 3 times in 5 minutes.
I know that I was very vocal about wanting to stop at two kids. But what it came down to, for both Jarom and me, was that Evan and June are just so much fun – we wanted one more. We put a lot of thought into it; aside from the cost of adding another baby, having three kids is a lot different from having two. Jarom and I will be outnumbered. We’ll eventually have to get a (slightly) bigger car, though we’re going to cram three car seats in the back of our little car somehow. As a kid, Jarom worried that he – the third child – would be left behind if his family won a “family of 4” sweepstakes. And, given how close Evan and June are in age, this new addition will be a little bit of an outsider.
But, in the end, we decided that we’ve had good luck getting great kids so far, and we’re willing to push that luck. Just a little.
I anticipate a high air conditioning bill next summer, since I’m due at the beginning of August.
P.S. This blog was around when I announced my first and second pregnancies, too.
I suspected! Congrats! Your kids are very cute, and seem pretty interesting so another will be wonderful! Jake tried to convince me the other night that we needed another now. I’m not ready yet, although perhaps he shouldn’t have brought it up when I was sick and exhausted.
I think everyone suspected, but it’s always nice to have one’s suspicions confirmed. I don’t think you’ll ever really be ready for another…but you’ll think you are, until you’re a few months pregnant, and then wonder what on earth you were thinking. Yep. Plus, while having two kids is definitely trickier than just having one, the second baby will be soooooo much easier.
It will be nice already having most of the stuff we’d need, so it’d be easier in that regard. If we have a girl, bless her heart she will be wearing lots of boys clothes! I am afraid ill never feel ready, since I’m such a “planner.” One kid is a lot harder than I suspected, and I suspect 2 is even harder.
Well, I hope you eventually decide to have another. Two kids are harder, but then they play together and have fun and I think it’s worth the extra trouble!
Oh snap hooray! How far along are you? I had an ultrasound today too.
Supposedly 11 weeks. I had an ultrasound a month ago, and the doctor said since the date was uncertain to begin with and the baby was curled up, they’d do another (today) to get a better date. Then today she said, “Oh, I always go with the first ultrasound date, it’s more reliable. I didn’t even measure this time.” So…I think I might be a week or two farther along. But we’ll see!
Well that’s uncanny. Baby Mansfield5 measures 13 weeks. Once again we’re on track to have kids at the same time. Unless yours comes a month early again. *jealous*
Oh yes, and “It’s a THIRD!”
