The Bwun shows off

…or is it really ME showing off? Hm. Adorable either way! When we were at my parents’ house recently, my mom would tell him “Good job!” and give a thumbs-up. That’s what he’s trying to do.

Outside

The Bwun was a little more difficult than usual today, and I was a little more tired than usual. So we went outside.

It started off well enough.

The Bwun tried to grab at the dirt and sticks and cobwebs and bugs lurking in the cinder block that sits at the top of our stairs (who knows why it’s there?).

He looked at some grass and weeds.

The Bwun was happy to be outside.

And then…he fell.

But while he was on the ground, he found a stick to chew on.

I’m not sure if he liked the taste very much.

So he ditched the stick and went for our neighbors’ garden gnome thermometer – one of his favorite toys (and yes, they said it’s ok for him to touch).

Unfortunately for the Bwun, he didn’t listen when I said to put the gnome back. He tried to carry it down the porch steps with him. I took it away; he threw a fit; we went inside.

The end.

(P.S. Lest you think I’m a terrible mother, when he tripped and fell down, I went and picked him up, brushed him off, held him, and made sure he wasn’t hurt. Seconds later he tripped again and sat complaining about his shoes. That’s what I took a picture of.)

Discovery

One thing I like about WordPress is that it gives me all sorts of statistics. From the fact that I keep an Excel spreadsheet of the books I’ve read, you probably know that I like having statistics. Among the many things WordPress tells me is the number of search engine terms that bring people to my blog.

Not surprisingly, most searches are for books – occasionally I get a search for something specific to me, like “bwun,” but these are rare. The #1 search engine term that leads people to my site is…

diary of a wimpy kid

…with 960 incoming readers (temporary though they surely are).

To give you an idea how many hits that is, the next most common term is “fablehaven,” with 360 links. From there it drops down to 184 for “the mysterious benedict society” and 183 for “diary of a wimpy kid rodrick rules.”

I can’t ever decide if I feel useful, for writing something that people were searching for information about, or irritated, because it turns out they were usually just looking for an image of the book cover. Oh well.

Welcome, either way. Enjoy your (brief) stay.
