Sketchbook

Blind contour drawing of shoe, baseball mitt, and candlestick for my first art class.

Sketch of same shoe from same class. 10 minutes! I had to increase the contrast on the image so you could actually see the pencil. Sorry it makes the stripes too dark.

Relaxing evening. I have no idea how to use watercolors, I'm trying to figure it out. I love the look of watercolor text. Also, triangles.

My friend-and-neighbor Holly asked me to make invitations for her daughter Lucy's birthday party. I still secretly think Holly was just being nice to me.

More ideas for the invitations. The cake on the top is the one I used on my own join-us-for-cake invitations, which I still haven't shown you. Mine had more candles, though.

I bet the invitations will be fantastic. And I’m sure Holly wasn’t just being nice. I wish I had thought to ask you to do Henry’s! I think it’s great you’re taking time to develop your talent and sharing what you’re doing on your blog. Thanks!

I remember when Dad took a class like that and had to do blind drawings! I really like the shoe.

I’m always envious of people who can do fonts well. That’s something I just can’t seem to do. Maybe that’s why I like graffiti–I’m just so impressed that someone could do large, freehand fonts … with a spray can besides!

Be opinionated! We certainly are.
