Appleskibrjfdsz…what?
Posted: December 4, 2008 Filed under: James and the Giant Peach, Treasure Island 2 CommentsLast night as I was on my way to pick up the Romgi from work, I got a call from my cousin offering tasty appleskibrjfdsz something-or-others that she was making for an Enrichment activity. She described them as being Danish pancake-y ball things and quite delicious. Since everything she’s ever made (that I’ve eaten) has been good, and everyone likes free food especially, we stopped by.
The little appleskibrjfdszs are actually called ebelskivers (yeah…totally), and they’re made in the world’s coolest specialty cooking dish. Seriously, look at it!
It really was made from pancake-like batter, but cooked into those beautiful little shapes and then you put butter and powdered sugar on them to make it extra fantastic. Oh my. It was so good.
And now I “need” an ebelskiver pan so I can invite people over and awe them with my Danish pancake-y things! They even have one on Amazon for the low, low price of $8.99! (I suspect it’s a somewhat cheaper version than the Williams Sonoma one linked in the image. Ha.)
Yep, those certainly look fun. And they sound pretty easy too, which is always a nice bonus!
.
Holy crap! Nine dollars?!?!
Here’s the thing: aebelskivers have always been a part of my family what with all the Danes and everything but finding a pan always required a trip to Solvang.
The internet is wonderful….
(Incidentally, family wisdom says that the best thing to flip aebelskivers with is a knitting needle.)
